Ray McKenna has penned a very interesting essay entitled “A Horrible Death”.
It is the story of one Owen McKenna who left the parish of Clogher in County Tyrone with his family and moved to Providence, Rhode Island. Fifteen years or so later his son, John, joined the army and fought for the Union in the Civil War, meeting his fate at the famed prison of war prison, Andersonville.
